About Our Coffee

We weren't looking for good coffee, but we found it in Antigua.

From a happenstance conversation, a new acquaintance, and a joke,
came a friendship, a business partnership, and two new coffee blends.

If you would have asked us if we would have a coffee business in 2023, we would have laughed. Although we have taken a major interest in coffee, we NEVER thought we'd be selling it. BUT, through a willingness to see new opportunities and to go where we feel we've been sent, we are so grateful to have been introduced to KG Coffees in 2022. Since first being introduced to KG Coffees, we've enjoyed many cups of coffee, chosen our personal blends through a coffee tasting with Pablo Castanheda, and returned to Antigua, Guatemala several times specifically to learn about the coffee making process.
Enjoy some photos below of the plantation where YOUR coffee beans come from!

The baby coffee plants in the nursery will begin producing coffee in the next 5 to 7 years.
Once they begin producing, they will be the main coffee producers for the following 40 to 50 years!

All the coffee plants are protected from the sun by larger shade trees.

Red coffee bean cherries close to harvest. Once ready, beans are hand-picked. No machinery is used, which provides better care and less trauma to the plants.

Coffee drying patio where the coffee will sun dry for 8 to 15 days.
The beans are carefully rotated every 45 minutes.

Meet Flavia - One of ONLY four women coffee roasters in Guatemala.

Coffee is roasted twice a week in small batches of 20 to 40 pounds, and a typical harvested coffee lot is 3000 to 8000 lbs. That means the roastery is a busy place! Flavia walks around with a stopwatch in her hands because when the coffee is roasting, seconds matter and too much time can easily ruin an entire batch. (FYI, the coffee roasting when we were there took 15 minutes, 31 seconds to be exact.)
So why don't we roast our own coffee? Well, because we cannot compete with the vast amount of knowledge and generational wisdom that comes with the intricate roasting process. We trust she knows what she's doing!
OKAY - So what does all this mean for YOU?
It means incredibly fresh coffee,
plantation direct to you
in as little as FOUR weeks!

We have two unique coffee blends, Boujee Blend and WAKE2WAKE.

Why Boujee?
The term "boujee" happened organically as Megan was attempting to describe our now friend Pablo, the coffee Jedi and plantation manager. Luxurious but humble, the definition of "boujee," seemed quite fitting! The idea to create a private label coffee, branded "boujee," was sparked during our medical mission grip to Guatemala in July 2023.
Boujee Blend is a gourmet blend of medium and dark coffees with notes of chocolate and cacao.

As a play on words, Wake2Wake encourages you to wake up, drink coffee and go hit the wake.

Wake2Wake is a dark roast coffee with a hint of espresso and strong chocolate notes.

Have we caught your interest yet? Interested in trying one or maybe both?
We'd love to share our coffee with you!
